This week, the Las Vegas Sun announced their endorsement of Susie Lee for Nevada’s Third Congressional District.

“I’m honored to again receive the endorsement of the Las Vegas Sun. Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve fought to lower health care costs, protect our water access, build more housing southern Nevada families can afford, and secure investments in our community,” said Susie Lee.

“Effective representation in Washington requires lawmakers who put local results ahead of partisan posturing, and Nevada’s current Democratic representatives in Congress have repeatedly proved their ability to deliver for the Silver State,” read the endorsement in part. “Across Congressional Districts 1, 3 and 4, Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford have compiled tangible records of achievement on the issues that directly affect Southern Nevadans — from securing critical water infrastructure and housing relief to returning millions of dollars directly to constituents. Facing Republican challengers whose campaigns rely on MAGA alignment, carpetbagging or partisan attacks, all three incumbents offer a distinct contrast: proven leadership, bipartisan effectiveness and deep connections to the communities they serve.”

Las Vegas Sun: For Congress, Southern Nevadans must stick with what works: Titus, Lee, and Horsford

“Rep. Susie Lee has built her congressional career around something increasingly uncommon in Washington: working across party lines. That’s why she has consistently been ranked by the Lugar Center at Georgetown University among the most bipartisan members of the House.

“That approach has produced important results for Southern Nevada, including bipartisan legislation on higher education affordability, healthcare access, veterans’ issues, energy costs and Nevada’s water supply. In a particularly visible win for Southern Nevada, Lee was the lead sponsor of the bipartisan Help Hoover Dam Act, which freed tens of millions of dollars in stranded federal funding for capital improvements at Hoover Dam. During her eight years in office, Lee has secured $5.7 billion in federal grants and investments, and returned more than $35 million directly to constituents through casework.

“Her opponent, Republican Marty O’Donnell, portrays Washington as broken and Lee as responsible for failed leadership. Yet Republicans currently have unified control of the federal government. O’Donnell is not running independently of that leadership: Trump endorsed him, and the National Republican Congressional Committee selected him for its explicitly MAGA-branded candidate program.

“That makes the central premise of O’Donnell’s candidacy worth examining carefully. If Washington’s current leadership is failing Americans, voters can reasonably assume that electing a candidate closely tied to that failed leadership is unlikely to help the country change course.

“Lee, meanwhile, already has something more tangible than illogical promises: a record. She has demonstrated that bipartisan leadership can produce results for Nevada.”

Susie Lee represents Nevada’s Third Congressional District in Congress, where she has been named one of the most bipartisan Members of Congress and one of the most independent voices in Washington. Before running for Congress, Susie started a comprehensive homeless shelter to help the most vulnerable members of our community, and she led the leading statewide dropout prevention program, Communities in Schools of Nevada.
